Crude Oil Processing and storage Plant

Fars Scout Industrial Co. Has executed some projects in Crude Oil Processing and storage Plant. The Most important ones are presented below.

1. Siri Island Onshore Crude Oil Processing Plant

The “EPC” revamping of Siri Island Onshore Crude Oil Processing Plant was awarded to Fars Scout in an international tender in 2004.   

Engineering part of the project was consisting of HAZOP study, reviewing the basic design and detail design of the control and instrumentation revamping. Pervious control systems were pneumatic in some part of the plant and it was to be replaced by electronic. The engineering was supervised by ABB UK, checking documents was approving them after any modification needed according to their comments.

Procurement of the project was more providing from foreign well-known companies listed below:

Design, and supply of DCS system with more than 1000 I/O from Siemens Moore  . The software supplied for DCS was Intouch Process Suite . The DCS besides monitoring and controlling all of the plant equipment, it monitored the ESD signals and provided commands to that system.

Similar DCS system was supplied by Total for new crude Oil plant. A part of this project was upgrading the DCS supplied by total and combining the two system together to have a common platform for controlling the whole plant.

Design, and supply ESD system ( ABB August System ) with more than 550 I/O for the plant.

Design, and supply of two PLC systems from Allen Bradley company  ( SLC 500 Controllers ) with more than 200 I/O each for controlling medium voltage high power motors. One of the controlled five crude oil pumps for pumping the oil to jetty for export and the other controlled two pumps for water injection to oil wells. These PLC was connected to DCS system for monitoring via ModBus.

Supplying more than 200 switches, transmitters and analyzers for DCS and ESD systems, such as pressure, temperature, level, flow, electrical signals, ….

Supplying servo type tank guaging systems (  Enraf Sevo Type Tank Guaging ) for three one million barrel crude oil storage tanks for measuring the leve of the crude oil and its temperature profile in the tanks.

Supplying of ESD and operation on-off valves, control valves with pneumatic and motorized actuators from Dresser company ( Dresser Valves ), Metso company ( Metso Cotrol Valves ), and ABB ( ABB Control Valves  ).

 ● Supplying cables, cable tray, junction box, and glands for electrical, control and instrumentation cabling.

Supplying explosion proof and safe local control motor switches

Supplying UPS redundant system for control room consumers.

Supplying a redundant HVAC system for control room

Supplying F&G detection and fire extinguishing for control room cable gallery and DCS and ESD panels.

Construction of the project was consisting of the following activities:

Installation, wiring, test, and commissioning of DCS, ESD, and PLC systems and their networking.

Installation, wiring, test, and commissioning of ESD and operation on-off valves operation with pneumatic or motorized actuators with the sizes up to 48”.

Cabling of the instruments, control and electrical consumers in the fields and cable tunnels and electrical buildings.

Renewing instrument air piping and tubing for all consumers.

Installation and commissioning of HVAC system, F&G systems and control room modifications.

2. Goureh Crude Oil Storage Plant

Mechanical, electrical and civil PC job was awarded to Fars Scout Industrial Co. in Goureh Crude Oil Storage Plant in 2016. The activities in this project is listed below.

Procurement in this project included procurement engineering activities such as providing material requisition, vendor proposal evaluation, and TBA-TBE for getting client and consultant companies approval on purchases. The most important purchases happened were:

● Control, instrument and electrical cables.

● Supply of Fire and gas detection detectors from draeger company (Explosion Proof Fixed Gas Detection )

  ● Supplying fire extinguishing foam cylinders.

● Supplying flange isolating kits

● Supplying shortage in pipes with size ½ inch to 34 inches.

Construction in this project included workshop and field engineering in different divisions such as piping, mechanical installation, electrical and instrumentation and evaluating the shortage of materials. The most important activities in this project were:

● civil works, consisting supply of bulk sand and soil, overlay and enforcement and compression of the material for base of the roads and eembankments around the concrete storage tanks.

● civil works, consisting supply of bulk sand and soil, overlay and enforcement and compression of the material for base of the roads and eembankments around the concrete storage tanks.

● civil works, consisting supply and installation pipe racks and steel structure for fire pump house and plant workshop.

● electrical works, consisting cabling, cable tranche and cable tray and ladder installation, JB installation, MCC modification and preparation for commissioning.   

● Piping works, consisting sand blast, paining, welding, steel structure support, and pipe installation underground and over-ground.  Xray testing of welding, and hydro test of piping, installation of flanges, valves, strainers, filters and other mechanical equipment.

● Mechanical construction works, consisting fixed and rotational equipment, such as Nitrogen generation package, HVAC packages, Compressors, heavy duty pumps in pump station. Besides these, installation of heavy motor operated valves up to 32 inches, diesel and electrical pumps in fire station, and service and start of diesel generator were part of mechanical construction activity.
